You have decided to take a few days to enjoy sin city and you know exactly what it is you want to do, gamble right. Well sure you will gamble because that is what makes Las Vegas what it is today but you can't gamble endlessly. At some point in your trip you will want to do something else and believe me there is plenty to do. This includes shopping, shows, entertainment and the list goes on and on. The area in Las Vegas that is the major hub for entertainment is the Las Vegas Boulevard, otherwise known as the strip. It is where all the major hotels and nightlife will be and with that also comes the crowds. Las Vegas has become one of the major tourist attractions and the mass amounts of people on the strip any given day is proof to that. Initially you might enjoy being there with the crowds but after a few days more than likely you will decide you want something a little different away from the crowds. This is when you will begin to wonder what can you do off the strip in Las Vegas. The best way to find out will be to rent a car for the day to in order to enjoy some things on the out skirts of Las Vegas. The only other alternative is a cab ride but this can get very expensive. If you decide to get out of the casino for the day here are a few things I suggest to do off the strip in Las Vegas.

A day trip to the Hoover Dam is adventurous. It is about a 30 minute drive but well worth it. The route is very scenic and even if you are not necessarily interested in the structure itself, the tour and the scenery is enough to keep you captivated. You will be able to take a tour and watch movies as to how the structure originated.

Lake Las Vegas is an area of Las Vegas that includes hotels, shopping, and residential area all along a man made lake. The three hotels in this are the Ritz Carlton, Loews, and Montelago Village Resort. There is a casino here also if you still would like to gamble while here. This area tends to be extremely less crowded than the strip area while still providing entertainment. There are shops and restaurants and on the weekends usually there is a band to enjoy live jazz on the plaza. Also there a paddle boats and boat rentals to take a tour out on the lake.

M Resort is about 5 miles outside of Las Vegas. It is a short ride south on Las Vegas Boulevard. It is truly a local hideaway. It was just opened in 2009. This hotel is quite exquisite with all the amenities a new hotel would have to offer without all the crowds and hustle and bustle of the Las Vegas strip. The pool is the caliber of the many strip hotels and offers live music on the weekends with drink specials. You are able to enjoy a relaxing evening at the pool and sip drinks that are not extremely overpriced like the strip hotels. The main attraction of this hotel is the buffet. Every hotel in Las Vegas offers a buffet and every person and review will tell you why they believe one buffet is better than the other. I knew I was on to something special when I was approached by one of the many timeshare salesmen and asked where I was planning to have dinner. I told him I was going the buffet at the M Resort. He immediately asked me how I knew about this. It was almost as if I had found out about a huge secret that I wasn't supposed to unlock. It is not heavily advertised but when I arrived there was almost an hour wait to enter. It was well worth the wait. The buffet was enormous and the variety was tremendous. The one thing that sets this buffet apart from all other buffets is the fact that beer and wine is included in the price of the buffet. You will not find this at any other hotel buffet on the strip and only at the hotel off the strip of Las Vegas.

Red Rock Casino is another hotel off strip of Las Vegas that is well worth the drive. It is approximately 15 to 20 minute drive from the Las Vegas strip. This hotel is also a favorite of the locals. It has everything the strip has to offer without the crowds. When you walk into this hotel you get the feel of luxury. It has bars, restaurants, bowling, spa and movie theatre. What I really like about this hotel is the beautiful pool. It is an elaborate set up in which they have musical performances most of the time during the summer months.

By no means am I encouraging you not to enjoy all the strip has to offer, which is a tremendous amount. It will take you a few days to absorb all the strip has to offer. If you visit Las Vegas often or even if you would like to take one day of your trip to explore other things to do off the strip in Las Vegas these are a few suggestions.

Las Vegas, Nevada is one of the top spots people from all over the world choose as a vacation destination. Where else can you go and gamble twenty-four hours a day, ride a roller coaster, get a meal for only a few bucks (or free), shop in brand name boutiques, watch glamorous shows, drink for free and more; all under one roof? You can quickly find cheap flight and hotel package deals to Las Vegas. Combining your hotel and airfare together is usually cheaper than purchasing each separately. It simplifies the process, since you can take care of your transportation and accommodations in a single transaction. Fewer mistakes will be made and you can pay for it all together too.

Find the Cheapest Flight and Hotel Vacation Package Offered Online

Choose various discount travel websites to review and compare. Select at least three separate online companies that offer Las Vegas vacation packages. You will need to do the follow steps on each travel website. Make notes for every one that you check.

Fill in Airport Information and Travel Date Details

Select “Flight + Hotel” to begin your search. Type in the city and/or airport you will be flying from. Put “LAS” for McCarran International Airport, or “Las Vegas” in the “To” or “Destination” text box provided. You do not want to end up in Miami, so be sure to fill in Las Vegas airport details. Use the drop-down arrows or calendar to chose your departing and returning dates. If offered, choose the time of day preferred for your flights.

Insert Details About Number of Travelers and Rooms Required

Use the drop-down arrow to choose the amount of rooms needed. Fill in details about how many travelers (passengers, guests) divided into “Adult,” “Children” or “Seniors” are in your group. Check over all of the details for errors. Click on the “Search” button. This will provide a listing of all of the flights matched with several different hotel/casinos in Las Vegas.

Rearrange the Results of Your Las Vegas Vacation Packages

You can sort the results by price to find the cheapest package deal. This is the fastest way to get the lowest price. Other ways to modify your search include recommended by website, by name, by star rating or travelers reviews (opinions). If you have a specific casino, hotel or area of Las Vegas (downtown or the strip), you can narrow your search by selecting only these flight and hotel package deals.

Compare the Various Results to get a Cheap Flight and Hotel Vacation Package.

You can write the details down, print the webpage's or open the websites on different tabs to evaluate them. Look at the packages to see which travel website has the cheapest price out of all of them. Book your flight and hotel when you find the best Las Vegas package deal.

Tips and Ideas

Most travel websites will include the option of adding a car rental to your Las Vegas package. If you need a rental while you are vacationing in Las Vegas, add it to your flight and hotel deal.

Be flexible with your travel dates and departure times to get more deals. You can find cheaper flight and hotel packages to Las Vegas, if you have fewer restrictions on your searches.

Check the travel website for any “Online Only Specials”, special vacation package “Deals” or “Offers” offered. Las Vegas is a common vacation destination that is included in many of these types of cheap vacation deals.

Warning

Read all of the details about your cheap flight and hotel packages to fully understand any restrictions included. Only agree and pay for vacation packages that you consent to.

Years ago before Las Vegas believed in catering to the party crowd there were a few small quiet lounges at the top of casinos but that was the extent of it. In 1997 the Rio Hotel ushered in a new style of lounge, the Voodoo Lounge and Las Vegas roof tops would never be the same. Now the list for top five lounges with a view.

1 VoodooLounge. Importing flair bartenders from Orlando, introducing crazy smoking drinks like the Witch Doctor and hosting all this 51 floors (technically 41) above the Las Vegas Skyline.
Voodoo Lounge ushered in a new era in more ways than one. Although technically not an ultra lounge, Voodoo preceded the first ultra lounge, Tabu by six years. Getting to the Voodoo lounge is an experience in itself. Traveling in a glass enclosed express elevator to the the top. Once your at the top, the view is beautiful and the scenery, both human form and architectural is just as beautiful. For special deals such as open bar deals, VIP packages and cover charges click on the link above.

2 Ghostbar. Ghostbar took alot of what the Voodoo Lounge and made it more glitzy. Located at the top of the Palms it has the same spectacular view as the Rio mainly since it is across the street. Ghostbar features a 30 foot ghost shaped soffit that changes colors with the music. Also to be mentioned here is the Moon Nightclub in the Fantasy Tower just above the Playboy Club. Ghostbar has memberships and a strict dress code.

3 Mix Lounge . High above the newest tower The Hotel at Mandalay Bay. 64 floors up, the Mix Lounge is an eclectic mix of music and visual experiences. You can grab a table inside or take a gander of the city from the balcony overlooking the Las Vegas Strip. You may have witnessed the view if you have watched HBO Boxing , they normally show the shot as a background during their telecasts from the hotel. The lounge also opens earlier than most, 5pm if your looking for quiet drink early in the evening.

4 Gold Diggers. Although only on the second floor it has a unique view of Downtown Las Vegas. Gold Diggers is located inside the Golden Nugget, in the middle of the world famous Fremont Street Experience. A posh interior that leads to a balcony where you can people watch or enjoy the amazing Fremont Experience light show.

5 Carriage House. An old Las Vegas throwback located a stones throw from the new mega casino City Center. Above the hotel Carriage House is a bar and restaurant. Dark and secluded the view is not as spectacular as it once was. Located in the heart of the Strip near Planet Hollywood Hotel, you can still access it fairly easily by traveling from Tropicana heading North to Koval then East on Harmon. Worth the hassle if you enjoy a nice quiet place instead of the hustle and bustle of Voodoo or Ghostbar.

Whether you enjoy the views from way above the the city or the fun of being just above the crowds downtown there is plenty of places to view the city while getting your drink on.

Las Vegas is full of excitement year around, but during the second weekend of April, “The City of Light” is extra bright. The Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly Festival offers a thrill a minute for visitors. This weekend festival is a blast from the past, featuring 1950's era themed Rockabilly music, car shows, burlesque stage performances, and a pin-up girl contest. This classic over the top Vegas style event is held at The Orleans hotel.

While the premier attractions of the Viva Ls Vegas Rockabilly Festival center around the musical performances, there is so much more to see and do throughout the weekend. Surprisingly, the crowd for this 1950's themed festival is a cross-generational affair. Even the polyester clad senior citizens appear youthful, as they relive the glory days of Vegas.

Classic performers, which actually graced the stages of old Vegas, reprise their traditional roles on stage. Some of the performers are tribute artists of the old timed Rockabilly style of music. Whether the performers are tribute artists, or up and comers in the industry, the quality of the performances are top notch.

Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly popular acts often include: Lew Williams, Johnny Powers, Alton and Jimmy, Al Ferrier, and Don Woody. The “Legends of Rock” line-up often includes Dale Hawkins, Charlie Gracie, Harvey Fuqua of Moonglows, and Otis Williams of The Charms. Rockabilly performers from around the country, and overseas which travel to Las Vegas to participate in the annual festival often include: Dave and Deke, Captain Jeffery and the Chumbuckets, Crown Vics, Chop Tops, Dean Z as Elvis, Lucky Stars, Haystack Hi-Tones, Domestic Bumblebees, Cousin Harley, Alex Valenzi and the Hideaway Cats, and Wes Pudsey and his Sonic Aces. The full cast of performers, which includes several dozen other groups, can be found at www.vivalasvegas..net

An amazing group of 1950's style burlesque brings the tantalizing art form back to life, during the Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly Festival. Feathers, fans, shiny costumes, and strategically placed “pasties” adorn the sexy women while they romp to traditional burlesque music on stage. Dancers introduce themselves with funky names such as, Vi Vacios, Ms. Fever Blister, and Tallolah Love. Performers interact with the crowd, with this bonanza of knockouts taking time to pose for photos after their performances.

The Betty Page clothing stores sponsors a “pin-up” girl contest, straight out of 1955. The clothing store, along with scores of other vendors, offer authentic styled 1950's era Rockabilly clothing and accessories for sale during the Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly Festival.

Classic cars on display during the four-day show are truly pieces of art. This is the car show, of car shows. Vehicles are required to have been built in 1963 or earlier in order to participate. A full row of nostalgic racecars, show cars, and hot rods are just the tip of the ice burg. Hundreds of detailed pieces of Americana are on display, complete with their enigmatic owners. Hearing the stories of their favorite rides, and how they came to own, and restore, and cherish them is all a part of the fun.

Pabst Blue Ribbon, a popular beverage of choice during the heyday of the Rockabilly era is one of the primary sponsors of the event. Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly visitors can pop the tap of the patriotic colored can, and savor the taste of a by-gone era. Children are permitted to attend some aspects of the Rockabilly Festival, but are not allowed into the casino theater or gambling floor. Tickets for the Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly Festival can be purchased in advance from the website, or at the door. A four-day pass to the event is generally $89 per person if purchased prior to the end of March. Prices at the door for a four-day pass are approximately $125 each. Prices for individual shows vary, with current details posted on the Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly website.

Las Vegas is a world class destination and a city geared toward fun. With abundant choices in entertainment, lodging, dining, shows and points of interest in the surrounding area, first time visitors can become overwhelmed, spend too much money and get overtired. Planning your Las Vegas itinerary before you leave home can help alleviate your stress and allow you to have the relaxing and fun vacation you deserve.

I recently took my first trip to Las Vegas and learned quite a bit about how to make my vacation better. I hope these tips will help you plan your Las Vegas vacation and have a wonderful time.

Make a Budget - knowing what you have to spend will allow you to make decisions on your activities and avoid those nasty credit card bills when you get home. Make sure you include lodging, food and dining, local transportation, entertainment, tips, phone calls and ,of course, gambling, if that's what you came for.

What Activities Do You want to Do – do you want to sit at the tables all day, lay by the hotel pool, see a world class show or two, eat at a famous chef's restaurant, dance the night away at a trendy night club, take a helicopter ride over the Grand Canyon or a dinner cruise on Lake Mead? You can do it all in Las Vegas. What's On magazine lets its readers know all that's going on in Las Vegas each week. Visit their website at www.whats-on.com.

What Time of Year Will You Travel – Las Vegas is in the middle of the desert and it can get brutally hot in the Summer when temperatures range from a low of 75 to a high of 105 degrees. Winter temps range from 36 to 63 degrees. For moderate temps, pick March and April and don't worry about rain, the average rainfall is only 4 inches per year.

If you are flying into Las Vegas also be aware of when the big conventions are in town as this can mean higher prices and a shortage of airline seats. Early March, mid-April and mid-November are prime times. Check with the Las Vegas Convention and Visitor's Bureau.

Be Careful of the Desert Climate – Las Vegas is DRY! Unless you com from a desert climate, you won't realize how quickly you can get dehydrated even in the shade. Drink plenty of water. I regularly drink a half gallon of water per day so I thought I'd be fine. I learned the hard way when I suddenly collapsed on a bench. Oddly enough, few of the hotels have water fountains in them and the bottled water is expensive so carry a water bottle with you and fill it up in the restroom. Make sure you put on sun screen and wear a hat and sunglasses to protect yourself from the intense sun.

What Do I Pack – for the most part, Las Vegas is a casual city and people will wear shorts and sport shirts at restaurants and the casinos during the day. Bring loose fitting cotton clothes and you'll want sneakers or comfortable walking shoes. Even if you stay on the Strip, you will do a lot of walking as the hotels are enormous and just going from one to another just next door could be half a mile. For evening, light sport jackets for gentlemen and a dress or nice pantsuit for the ladies is expected in fine dining restaurants. If you're going to a hot nightclub, they all have dress codes so leave the sneakers at home and prepare to look stunning. During the winter months, you'll want a jacket or sweater for evening because it can get down into the 30's.

Transportation Around Town – Las Vegas streets are laid out in a grid pattern so it is very easy to get around if you are driving. Rush hour is around 3 p.m. as that is when the casino staff changes shift. Avoid Interstate 15 at that time. If you are staying in a Strip hotel and confining your activities to that area, there is no reason to bother with a rental car. The public buses are great and there is a special double decker bus called the “Deuce” which travels up and down Las Vegas Blvd. (the Strip) 24 hours a day. The fare is $2 one way but you can get a $5 ticket that is good for a 24 hour period for unlimited travel.

On the east side of the Strip, starting behind the MGM Grand and running to the Sahara is a monorail which stops at the big hotels and the convention center. You can get an all day pass for $9. There are two other trams on the west side of the Strip. One runs between Treasure Island and the Mirage and the other runs between Mandalay Bay, Luxor and Excaliber. They are both free.

There are many taxi companies in Las Vegas but you must call a cab as taxis are not allowed to pick up passengers off the street. Just go to any big hotel as they all have taxi stands. The basic fare is $3.20 plus $2 per mile.

Where Do I Eat – there are so many places to eat in Las Vegas you could eat each meal somewhere new and not repeat yourself for years. Every hotel has at least one restaurant and the big hotels can have several. The best value for your money is at the buffets. They are everywhere and dinner buffets can range from the $10.99 prime rib buffet at Fitzgerald's to the $35.95 gourmet buffet at the Bellagio. I enjoyed the buffet at the Orleans on Tropicana Ave. With my coupon it cost $5.95 and I had shrimp, short ribs, delicious side dishes and fantastic chocolate cake. If you belong to Player's Club at the casino, you often get a big discount at that hotel's buffet. What's On magazine always has coupons.

For a special treat, try one of the restaurants run by a famous chef. Emerill LaGasse, Bobby Flay and Wolfgang Puck all have restaurants in Las Vegas. I was fortunate to eat lunch at Emerill's New Orleans Fish House and had the most delicious seafood gumbo and fantastic banana cream pie I've ever had. My waiter, Robert Faughn and his crew, treated me like royalty. Since these are pricy places, have lunch instead of dinner to get the great food with a lower price tag.

Entertainment – big, lavish production shows are what Las Vegas is known for. Cirque du Soleil has four different productions: O, Mystere, Zumanity and Ka. No trip to Vegas is complete without seeing one of them. I liked the show at the Miracle Mile shops called “The Ultimate Variety Show.” It had the world's fastest juggler, 2 funny comics, an arial act, 2 Russian acrobats who did impossible tricks and a magician who turned flowers into beautiful birds.

For the budget conscience there are four locations where you can get half price show tickets on the day of the show. Tix4Tonight booths are at: Fashion Show Mall, Hawaiian Marketplace, North Strip just south of the Riviera Hotel and downtown at the 4 Queens Hotel.

What Else is There To Do – for thrills and chills try the Adventuredome Theme Park at 2880 Las Vegas Blvd. Over 25 rides and games will keep the kids busy for hours. There are several museums in Las Vegas. I loved the Auto Collection at the Imperial Palace. It's the largest classic car collection and changes frequently as the cars are for sale. I've never seen so many beautiful Rolls Royces.

If you want to get out of Las Vegas, you can take a tour to the Grand Canyon or Lake Mead. Red Rock Canyon is just a short 17 mile drive from the Strip out Route 159 and only costs $5 per carload. You can take the scenic drive, hike the canyons and see interesting exhibits at the Visitors Center. I thought this was a highlight of my trip. There is a desert tortoise who lives behind the Visitors Center and it was fun to watch him in his habitat.

As you can see there is more than enough to see and do in Las Vegas no matter what your tastes. Giving careful thought to your budget, entertainment and activity likes, bringing the proper clothes and timing your trip will help you plan an itinerary that will make your Las Vegas vacation a happy and memorable one.

When the sun goes down and darkness falls, the Las Vegas Strip starts heating up. Although the temperature outside may feel cooler, it is the action inside Las Vegas’ many nightclubs that keeps things hot. Over the last few years, dozens of new nightspots have opened up in Las Vegas, both on and off the strip. Whether you want a drink after dinner, to dance a little, or to party all night, Las Vegas has a nightclub for you. Here are reviews of some of Las Vegas’ hottest clubs and even suggestions on how to get free passes.

Although much of the action takes place after dark, one of the most happening parties goes on during the day. On Monday afternoons, the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino hosts a pool party called Rehab. From noon until 8p.m., the pool at the Hard Rock transforms into an outdoor club with DJs, dancing, and relaxing under the sun. Instead of nightclub attire, partiers wear bathing suits. Outdoor grilling and massages are available and there are even swim-up blackjack tables. For more information, go to www.rehablv.com.

If you want variety, PURE may be the place for you. Located inside Caesars Palace, PURE offers three different rooms, each with its own type of music. One room is the Pussycat Dolls Lounge, which features performances by the Pussycat Dolls throughout the evening. PURE also has an enormous outdoor terrace, should you need some fresh air. Celebrity DJs and guests are frequently sighted partying at PURE, so be prepared to wait in line. Sometimes, employees will stand near the entrance to the casino and hand out free passes before the club opens. They seem to be targeting attractive women, but each pass is good for two people, so she can bring a date. Cover charges vary depending on the DJ or event for that evening. http://www.purethenightclub.com

The Ghostbar at the Palms may have the best view in all of Las Vegas. The Ghostbar is an indoor-outdoor lounge that offers amazing city views from its outdoor deck located on the 55th floor. In addition to the city view, there is also a see-through floor that overlooks the pool at the Palms. The Ghostbar is a hip ultra-lounge that features live music from a variety of DJs. For more information, check out www.ghostbar.com.

When most other nightclubs start closing down, the line outside of Drai’s starts getting longer. A popular after-hours spot, located inside the Barbary Coast, Drai’s keeps the music pumping until breakfast is served. Drai’s is a gourmet restaurant until midnight, but then it converts into a hot nightspot for the late night crowd. http://www.drais.net

All of these clubs have a dress code and cover charge. In general, most clubs have a ‘casual chic’ dress code that prohibits sneakers, shorts, tank tops, t-shirts, and athletic jerseys. If you wear shoes and try to look stylish, you should meet their entrance requirements. I have a few suggestions for trying to get free passes to nightclubs in Las Vegas. First, when you check into your hotel, ask the front desk clerk if they have any passes. Sometimes they will give you passes and some clubs are free to hotel guests. If they do not have any, ask again at the concierge desk. Generally, the concierge desk keeps a supply of passes handy, so if you ask nicely they may hook you up. Taxi drivers will sometimes have passes to give out, so ask your driver if you take a taxi. Even if you are not staying at a hotel, it does not hurt to ask the concierge at that hotel if they have any nightclub passes. The most they can do is say no. For more information on Las Vegas nightclubs, the Las Vegas Advisor has a thorough listing at www.lasvegasadvisor.com/referenceguide-nightspots.cfm.

Ochoa at LPGA Event - Las Vegas Country Club, Las Vegas, Nevada by tiggernbennie

Las Vegas is commonly referred to as Sin City. Now Sin City is being forced to ask “Are we going too far? Pushing the envelope is Deja Vu Showgirls, a national nude strip club chain. Deja Vu which is located on Highland Ave near the Fashion Show Mall just off the Las Vegas Strip, has created the worlds first Stripper Mobile.

What is the Stripper Mobile you ask? Take a truck put a box on it, install plexiglass windows all the way around. Now install two stripper poles, add bikini clad women dancing on the poles and bingo! As they drive down the crowded Las Vegas Strip on a busy evening, they can call out to potential customers with a loudspeaker inside the confines of their truck.

This has created a quandry for local government. They don't like it and are trying to figure out how to stop it. Steve Sisolak Clark County Commisioner said on Channel 8 News Las Vegas, “The driver looks over at it and goes up the sidewalk and plows down 12 people, we are going to have a real problem.” The Clark County Commision has obviously been taken by surprise by this new form of advertising and are scrambling to eliminate it. The Commisioners had said they would meet to discuss the matter on Tuesday, but in a surprise move Deja Vu grinded the operation to a halt on Friday. The Commission still plans on discussing options to make sure the moving peep show stays parked.

As for Deja Vu they say business is booming according to Larry Beard, spokesman for the club as he told Channel 8 News “We only run the truck between the hours of 10pm and 2am.” Limiting exposure to tourist families.

Fox 5 Las Vegas Matt Delucia also did a story on the Stripper Mobile that was picked up nationally on CNN. In Delucia's story Larry Beard addressed the fact that the girls could get hurt in a sudden stop or quick turn, “They have a pole just like a transit bus they can hold onto for support.” Ultimately the Commission used the safety issue as the reason to end the ad campaign.

Las Vegas needs to decide which way it wants to go. For the last couple of years with ad campaigns that declare “What happens in Vegas Stays In Vegas” Las Vegas has shown a propensity to skew more to adults than families. Now Las Vegas politicians have made a decision that could lead to more constraints on businesses rather than letting businesses be creative and drive commerce. The fact is politicians spent two days on this when they could have been addressing real issues like unemployment, getting construction projects funded, and coming up with a plan to bring in more tourists. We all know who the politicians were acting on behalf of, the elephant in the room , the mega-casinos.

NIGHT VIEW OF THE VEGAS STRIP, VUE DE LAS VEGAS BLVD LA NUIT 3. by Uncle Paul T Birdman:

Thanks to Las Vegas Escorts for sponsoring the following blog post

I recently had the opportunity to attend the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. While the show was held on January 7-10 this year, I was only able to attend on the final day of the show, which was January 10th. This was my first trip to CES, and I only went as a favor to a friend who was going. I didn't really want to go, since electronics aren't really my thing, but I ended up having a great time, and learning a lot about up-and-coming technology. I have to admit that I was amazed and overwhelmed with all the technology we saw.

We flew in to Las Vegas on the evening of the 9th, and stayed at a Marriott on the outside of town. It was difficult to get a room close to the Las Vegas Convention Center, where part of the show was being held, because the hotels were full of other people attending the CES. We had hoped to get in to town in time to see some of the show before they closed for the evening, but our flight was delayed in Denver, and we didn't make it. We ended up grabbing dinner and spent the rest of the evening hanging out in our hotel room.

The show opened at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday. We didn't get to the Las Vegas Convention Center until almost 10:00 a.m. I was surprised at all the people in attendance. The line for the taxis seemed a mile long – I was glad we rented a car at the airport. When we got inside, it was nuts – there were people everywhere.

After we walked around the Convention Center, we went to get some lunch, and then headed for the Las Vegas Hilton, to see more displays. The Hilton was just as packed as the Convention Center. There were also displays at the Sands Expo and Convention Center.

We saw a lot of great stuff, but there were two things that made the biggest impression on me. One was a new Super Multi Blue player that LG Electronics is introducing to consumers sometime this year. I've been very confused about the difference between DVDs and Blue-ray discs. Apparently, this new player has the capability to play both types of media. However, it will be a bit pricey – information we received at the show estimates the cost around $2,000. I'll be waiting for a while to buy one, I think.

Another thing I saw that I'd really like to have, is a device made by Netgear, that will allow consumers to access YouTube videos, and iTunes music from their home television. I watch a lot of videos on YouTube, and hate being chained to the computer while I get my daily fix of Elvis videos. I'd also really enjoy being able to listen to my iTunes on my home stereo system, and I think this device would be a great solution for my issue. The cost estimate on this handy little device was around $350. I think it may make it onto my Christmas list this year – I can't wait to see what Santa brings, and it's only January!

After the show, we were too excited to enjoy the Las Vegas nightlife. We ate a light dinner, and then headed back to our hotel room to get ready to leave for home on Friday morning. We ended up getting home on Friday afternoon. My friend is still bouncing off the walls from all the excitement, and I'm planning to do some research on some of the great products we saw. I'm hoping to purchase a couple of the items we saw. All in all, it was a great experience, and I'm glad I decided to go. However, I don't think I'll go to next year's show, even though my friend is already making plans to attend.
